Dawn is our Chairperson and joined Cranbourne in Sept 2017 with the intention of training Austyn over the winter and loved it so much she couldn't leave, and joined the committee in Dec 2019.
Her first two agility dogs sadly passed away within 3 months of each other in 2022. Amber was nearly 16 and Dharma close to 15. They decided to get a rescue from Ainmhithe in Ireland this turned into 2, as these 2 dogs had become friends in kennels and they didn't have the heart to separate them.
Gibson (3 yrs) 'the herder' can do both agility and flyball, but gets easily distracted hence still Grade 2!
Kenzi, less distracted has made it to G3 - onwards and upwards!
Lemmy is now 7 and G4 KC, Novice steeplechase and performance in A4A - still a goofball but can switch it on when he wants to!
Austyn is now 8 and finally managed to get to G3 KC and Novice steeplechase - she still knocks a considerable amount of poles and regularly jumps her contacts but is still damn fast!!!
Mel is our Vice Chairperson and has been a member since 1994.
She has been on the committee for about 20 years and has been instructing about the same time.
She has always worked Border Collies and currently with her husband Iain and alongside Becci she jointly runs and competes with 7 of them:
Mist, Jupiter, Mercury, Shadow, Sirius, Dream and Drift.
She also has Bodger who is now retired and Shrica a Sheltie who does not do agility.
Melanie also shows some of them in breed and some are qualified Search and Rescue Dogs.
Judy joined the club in 2004 with her first agility dog, a black labrador called Baggy.
She joined the committee and began to instruct so that she could put something back into the club. She is now training her fourth black Labrador this time called Maverick, he is the noisiest dog she has ever owned.
Carolyn has been a member since 2017 and joined the committee in 2019.
She maintains the club website and runs her Cockapoo Dillon (Li'l D) who has been the holder of the Cranbourne 'Most Challenging Dog' award...more than once. Li'l D is finally growing up and can now even wait on the start line!
Dawn joined Cranbourne in 2012, originally running a small Yorkie crossbreed called Twix, followed by a Jack Russel/Collie cross called Ollie who reached Grade 5.
She joined the committee and started instructing in 2021 and then became our Club Secretary in 2022.
She now runs a German Spitz called Aluka (also Grade 5), & is bringing on a Collie cross Spitz pup called Echo.
Anna first joined Cranbourne in the 90's, with her German Shepherd and again in 2004 with her Hungarian Vizsla. She now runs her 4 year old Brittany Spaniel, Piper. Anna is now our Club Treasurer.
"Piper being a gundog is quite a challenge as often follows her nose rather than my instructions. Saying that, we have had some amazing successes at agility competitions including winning out of Grade 1 this year to progress to Grade 2."
"Not everyone competes; some dogs and their owners just do it for fun. Everyone at Cranbourne is very friendly and always ready to offer advice or praise which keeps me coming back."
Linda has been doing agility for nearly 10 years. The first few years were with her previous Collie, Paddy, who unfortunately had an injury early on in his career, so his agility days were cut short.
She started working with Miss Ellie back in 2019, after rescuing her from DBARC. In 2021 she joined Cranbourne Agility Club and after two years of training they reached the dizzy heights of Grade 2 - an achievement as Ellie is very much a 'velcro' dog so always needs to be by Linda's side.
'We have found Agility to be an amazing hobby and it has helped Ellie to become more independent and more forward going. Agility is a great sport, whether its just for pleasure or whether you take it forward into proper KC Competitions. You meet some lovely people who have the same interest as yourself.'
